CT Quilt Works and Preservation Center offers an ever-changing stock of new and new-to-you fabrics, Made in America vintage, antique and new quilts, vintage linens, and gifts for the quilter or quilt aficionado. Throughout the year our teachers offer classes in basic skills, historic, and original patterns. Our mission is to encourage, inspire, and promote creativity especially by the reuse of everyday materials normally discarded. Classes and workshops are offered in a variety of techniques and skill levels; Quilt Lectures and Exhibits are offered throughout the year in the Meeting House (announced on Facebook and through monthly newsletter).
A variety of treatments are available to customers based on their preservation preference; conservation or restoration. Each item is evaluated for its condition. We develop a preservation strategy to meet private collectors' needs along with a cost proposal. Past treatment examples include cleaning, stabilizing, and remounting samplers for archival framing, wet-cleaning and repair of quilts, Far Eastern tapestries conserved and re-backed. Insurance estimates and recovery work is done in-house and appraisals can be arranged.
